Feminine hygiene!
So this morning i started my special magical lady time (i.e. my period) and while this is a bit of a strange post i thought i'd share with you my favourite feminine hygiene manufacturer, Moxie.

as well as plugging the product they have some really nice little sections such as '10 ways to help with the moods and blues' and things like that.
Moxie's mission statement is to make women feel more feminine and stylish during the time of the month women often feel at their most unattractive (i know i do) and while there's not much a box of tampons can do to make you feel better, Moxie seem to have succeeded by covering the products in the worlds most gorgeous, girly packaging. The boxes the products come in are just gorgeous and look like luxuriant, mini hatboxes and inside each you as well as the tampons/pads/panty liners you get a beautiful metal tin to keep the products in when you're out and about (though refills without the tin are also available, at least with the non-applicator tampons). The pads and liners are embossed little bows to make them even cuter, the wrapper of the non-applicator tampons has a little black bow printed on and the applicator tampons have a colour-coordinated plastic applicator. The product range includes panty liners, 'slender' pads, 'regular' pads and 'nighttime' pads and both non-applicator and applicator tampons (available in regular and super). All the products are colour-coordinated in beautiful, vintagey feminine shades of pink, peach and blue. I just really love them and am proud to show them off on my dresser.
How do they work? Well they're basically exactly the same as any other tampons/panty liners/ sanitary towels i've used, no better but certainly no worse. The one thing i don't like is that the tampons are not available in super-plus strength for heavy flow days and that the applicators are made of plastic which of course is bad for the environment. Otherwise though i seriously would be sad if i was unable to pick up Moxie and had to settle for another brand. Oh and the price seems much the same as other brands too, under £2 for a box of 12 applicator tampons or pads or 24 panty liners or 16 non-applicator tampons.

Phew, i've just finished commenting on all your replies to my recent entries, so if you've left anything please check out the posts. I'm so sorry it took me so long, i hate not replying to people right away, i was just so busy i decided to make new posts instead of commenting on the old ones. I think things have calmed down enough now that i won't have to choose between the two anymore!

My 'graduation' photo
I refused to go to my actual graduation celebration because of my social phobia. So my Mum and Dad insisted on having a sort of fake celebration in a park when we went out to celebrate the fact that i had actually graduated. Looking back on it it was quite a sweet idea, but at the time i absolutely freaked out because it was sprung on me as a surprise and i had been expecting a nice treat, not having my photo taken in a park full of people staring at me. I got so scared and panicked at the idea that i was in tears for about ten minutes before i finally managed to calm down and this picture was taken.
Not the most thrilling outfit or makeup, but i want to show off my amazing bunny shoes and you can't tell but the graduation cap has mickey mouse ears :)

My Illamasqua prize came today! 3 brushes and a postcard complete with a little message from Alex (presumably from the Illamasqua blog, not Alex Box but there is no surname on the signature, so i can't be sure). I've never ordered from Illamasquas website as i live in London so i can visit their counter in selfridges, but after recieving the lovely box this morning i stupidly want to just so i can have more of the gorgeous Illamasqua tissue paper (gold with the logo printed) and the address label had a beautiful sticker i shall take a photo of.
Now the thing is (i know this probably sounds a bit ungrateful, but i don't mean it to be in the slightest! I am so so thrilled to have won anything in a competition, let alone an absolutely amazing prize from my favourite makeup brand worth over £60!) the three brushes i recieved were not ones i would ever have chosen myself. I recieved the highlighter brush, blender brush number 2 and blusher brush number 2. I'm just not sure what to do with them, i have copies of each of the shapes and uses in my ELF brushes, and while i'm sure the Illamasqua ones will be a higher quality, i don't even use the ELF ones that often. Reasons being 1 the blending brush seems too big for eyeshadow (i checked on the illamasqua website and it says its suitable for any cream, powder or liquid product, but they sell a smaller blending brush designed specifically for shadow) but presumable is great for blush, foundation etc, but really my needs for those are met. The blusher brush is angled, which i can imagine being really useful, but i generally apply blush in little dolly-ish rounds to the apples of my cheeks and the highlighter brush seems very similar to the blending one and i just don't know how often i'd use any of them.
So the thing is, i could sell them and then spend the money to buy 3 brushes or other products of my choice. But then again these brushes might be the most amazing things i've ever tried and change my life and i'll never know if i don't at least test them, but if i do i wont be able to sell them (or at least not for the same price as them unused) and it just seems in a way wrong for me to sell my prize, i'm so proud of winning and it just seems like i should hold onto them to keep as a sort of trophy :P

Oh and while i'm asking for your advice, i have a thought which is meant to be a good thing, but some people may see it as cheap, so i thought i'd ask. Soon i'm going to do a post-christmas giveaway of some Lush products (i bought specially for it), however for christmas i recieved a huge box of lush goodies from a friend. She hadn't bought them, but hates bath products and kept getting them for gifts for many years. There are way too many for me to ever use up so i thought i'd offer them as runner up prizes in the giveaway. Does this seem cheap or rubbish in any way? Also as these are re-gifted from her the products are not fresh but all entirely useable and retain their lovely smells and qualities. It's all bath bombs, bubble bars, massage bars etc so none of the 'fresh' facemasks or anything i can imagine going 'off' but still i'd like to know what you think :)

I haven't taken part in the offer and assume now all the free goodies are gone or at least whittled down extremely and apparently my subconcious is very sad about this!

I stupidly forgot to mention that i won second prize in Mizzworthy and Illamasqua's 'out of the box' contest! My winning look was the 'reverse rococo' one (http://lillianfunnyface.blogspot.com/2009/12/mizz-worthy-illamasqua-contest-entry.html) and i must agree very vainly and arrogantly that, while it may not have been executed amazingly, the idea behind it was quite original and interesting :) My prize is 3 illamasqua makeup brushes and i really can't wait to get my mitts on them! Also finally i will have some higher-end brushes to compare my ELF studio brushes to (review of them is coming up shortly, but basically they are amazing) instead of my old cheap-as-free horrible shedding, scratchy brushes and sponge applicators :P

This week has been a lot busier than i thought it would be, firstly there was my birthday (thank you all for your wonderful messages <3) then i had to take down the christmas decorations which is always such a sad job, then today was my nephews birthday and i've been editing and uploading a documentary on one of my favourite bands which took a whole lot longer than i thought it would. Also there has been a huge amount of snow, it is beautiful but england is pathetic and calls it 'arctic conditions' and public transport grinds to a halt. So i apologise again for the shortage of posts and my terrible lack of commenting, i'm trying my best to remedy it. The biggest hindrance to my blogging is that recently something went wrong with my girlfriends laptop, which is what i usually post from, so now i have to do all of my internetting upstairs on the desktop. This makes me feel anti-social so i tend to leave all the windows i want to comment on up and then leave the computer, meaning i have about 100 open tabs D:
I got money for my birthday and have gone on a beauty spree! I've finally splurged on a lot of mineral makeup companies i've wanted to try before but haven't had the money to, so expect in the next few months hauls/reviews from:

My favourite looks of 2009
I was having a look through all the photos on my computer from this year and thought i would post some of my favourite outfits or makeup looks from this year (before i started this blog or ones that never got posted).
Here's the first. It's actually an incredibly bad picture of me, my head looks rounder than ever and there are seious issues with my boobage, but still:
that's me at my graduating show from university, you can see some of my paintings. The dress was a joint effort between me and Claire and was made of plastic sheeting, foam board, staples and glue as well as fabric! Not the best fitting garment, certainly not the most flattering, but pretty damn showstopping if i do say so myself!

Tomorrow it is my birthday! Hooray, people bring me gifts simply to celebrate the fact that 22 years ago i was born!
Tonight we went out to celebrate by eating at my favourite restaurant, Marine Ices, who do the worlds greatest tomato pasta and ice cream. I ate a hideous amount of food. Mmm food.
Today i've been taking a load of photos for upcoming posts, but the camera battery completely died before i managed to get them onto my computer. I'm hoping to get a new video up sometime this week (as well as quite a few written posts), i really enjoy making them but they somehow seem to take more effort than blog posts, even though they mean i don't have to take loads of photos of loads of products.
So next time i write i will be a whole year older! :D
Speaking of, i used to be very depressed around my birthdays because i had a Peter-Pan-like aversion to aging, wanting to be forever young and childlike. Now i am a lot better, looking forward to my new year of opportunities and so on that come with getting older. I think a big part of this has come from me having a lot of friends considerably older than myself nowadays. Not because of the obvious reason (compared to them i am young) but because i think 'wow, if i can accomplish half as much as ____ by his/her age i will be so happy' and i see how cool and fun and spontaneous and amazing people like my friends Foz and Mikey and Chris are and it just seems like age is completely irrelevant. I'm 22 and i can be friends with people who are 50 and that's wonderful and helps my self esteem by thinking that these wonderful people think i'm interesting and mature enough to be worth spending time with.
Also you get cake on your birthday *thumbs up*

Resolutions
I hope everyone had a really good new year! I had a bit of an odd one, just hanging around the house with fried and a bottle of vodka. It descended into a pre-teen game of truth or dare which then had Ian (the only boy in our group) being dresed up in drag, me having a glass of booze parcel-taped to my arm and everyone getting a bit too interested in everyone elses sexual history.
Today i woke up with my second hangover ever. It was horrible. I think i shall think carefully about drinking in the future, it makes the nights more interesting and easy but the repercussions are more horrible than i had imagined.
So i have some resolutions for the new year. Will i keep them? Honestly it's pretty doubtful, i'm rather useless at this sort of thing but they are all things designed to make my life easier and more fulfilling so i will try my very best.
1. Lose some weight. A boring and incredibly typical resolution. My reason is purely shallow, i don't care about my health or anything sensible i'm afraid to say, my reason is simply that this time last year i was at least 1 dress size smaller, and now i am too large for some of my clothes. I stil loe those clothes and it's sad to not be able to wear them.
2. Complete at least 1 painting/sculpture/illustration/piece of clothing a week. I NEED to get back into the swing of consistently starting and finishing things. I have so many 'talents' (if you can call them that) and the majority of the time they get put on the back burner or just forgotten about. i have so many half finished projects that i just need to turn my attention to for a few days to complete.
3. Sell Sell Sell! I have so much stuff in my house which i no longer need and am planning to sell but just haven't gotten around to it. Expect an epic blog sale of fashion/makeup/miscellanery soon, some stuff i'll be giving away. Stuff that doesn't sell here i will put onto ebay and anything that doesn't sell then will be taken to a charity shop. I need to just get it out of the house!
I will aso be putting more paintings/dolls/sculpture etc onto etsy. I figure the more i have out there the more likely it is i will make some money!
4. Save money. I'm not even gong to attempt to put myself on a spending ban, it just won't happen, but i will try my best to save at least a small amount of money a month.
5. Be as professional as possible with my art. As soon as possible i'm going to do a complete overhaul of my website, making it as original and exciting as possible, but still professional and easy to use. I'm also going to try and get any exhibitions possible. I'm trying to pursuade my friend Mikey to do a show wth me, not only doe (i think) our work go ogether really well, but he has lots of connections and will attract a lot of people :P
6. Wear more makeup! This might seem a bit of a silly one seeing as this is first and foremost a blog about my experiences with makeup but to be honest i don't feel i wear it enough. One of the reasons i started this blog is that from around the beginning of last year i stopped wearing as much fun and exciting makeup. Firstly i was so buy at college i would just run out of the house without bothering to spend any more time than was necessary. And while now i will put it on everytime i leave the hous i feel i have fallen into a bit of a rut. My look is always a bold lip with either plain eyes or eyeliner. I think this look is very flattering for me but have so many exciting coloured eyeshadows and so on and it does sadden me to see them sitting in my makeup box looking lonely and unloved. I used to be a lot more 'outrageous' with my looks as well, coloured eyebrows, rainbow eyeshadow, green blusher, drawn on monobrows etc etc and while some people still think my usual look is a bit 'out there' to me it just seems like an 'everyday' look and nothing special.
So I will be trying as hard as possible to stick to them, but in the highly likely event that i fail i'm not going to be hard on myself.
I've loved reading everyones end-of-year posts and hopefully i'll get my op products of 2009 up soon.

I think this look is very flattering for me but have so many exciting coloured eyeshadows and so on and it does sadden me to see them sitting in my makeup box looking lonely and unloved. I used to be a lot more 'outrageous' with my looks as well, coloured eyebrows, rainbow eyeshadow, green blusher, drawn on monobrows etc etc and while some people still think my usual look is a bit 'out there' to me it just seems like an 'everyday' look and nothing special.
So I will be trying as hard as possible to stick to them, but in the highly likely event that i fail i'm not going to be hard on myself.
I've loved reading everyones end-of-year posts and hopefully i'll get my op products of 2009 up soon.
