Sugarpill swatches

I'm so so excited that Sugarpill has just released a whole new bunch of new Chroma-lusts (Claire is a bit obsessed with Sugarpill and is planning on buying them all!), they look beautiful. But i realised that i never posted swatches of our second Sugarpill haul (actually just Claire's haul but she bought them for us to share because she is lovely).

I was trying to show just how full the pots are in this photo. I failed. Anyway as I've probably said before, Sugarpill Chromalusts' are measured by weight, being 5g (of product, not jars) each, and as there's different ingredients that means in some the jars are more full than others as they take up more space. Anyway you cannot see but Royal Sugar was absolutely full to the top, i mean the absolute brim. And that's great as it's my favourite colour! Hysteric had the least in the pot, but god knows you still get enough!

Blah my swatches look rubbiush! In real life they are so so much brighter and the contrasting coloured sparkles are more pronounced. Blah, maybe i'll do some better ones.
Anyway left to right:
Absinthe, Hysteric, Royal Sugar, Junebug, Lumi, Starling, Decora

The only one i've actually used so far (i have way way too much makeup) is Royal Sugar (you can see a look using it here) which is absolutely amazing. But the others are so beautiful as well. Hysteric and Decora have green sparkles, which instantly makes them awesome.

Sugarpill Cosmetics Review

I've been a fan of Shrinkle's for a long time, i own several items from her clothing line, and have always enjoyed reading her blog posts because she seems like a genuine, fun loving, sweet girl. She introduced me to Kryolan makeup and I always giggle at her blog posts detailing her love for Ron Perlman and grow lustful at the photos of amazing food she often posts (and yet remains so trim, damn you Amy!) and i've really liked her bright, colourful style and tranny/clubkid/80s rainbow brite girl makeup. So when i heard she was working on her own makeup line i was obviously really excited. I was sure that Amy would be taking the Kryolan she sells as her inspiration and creating something even more bright and beautiful.
And i was not disappointed.

FOTD Pink and silver using Sugarpill :)

First i did my face the same as usual (ELF concealer, Avon tinted Moisturiser and today Sleek's the One powder) but instead of using a blush i applied Dollypop eyeshadow very lightly over the apples of my cheeks. Then i took an angled brush and used Dollypop thickly to define my brows. I used Tako lightly on my browbone as a highlight and then a tiny dab of Tiara over that just to add some sparkle. Then i piled Tiara on thickly on my eyelids. I couldn't find a white eyeliner and wanted to brighten my waterline so i applied Tako thickly with an eyeliner brush and finished up with some black mascara (Boots No 7 extreme length, i like it!). For the lips i used Mac Gladiola with a clear pink gloss over the top and then dabbed a tiny bit of Tiara over it.

This is the first time i've actually written out the steps of a look i've made. Would anyone be interested or more of these or even some proper tutorials? Don't be afraid to say no :P

I've got the world's biggest sweet tooth

And here to satisfy my candy cravings is Sugarpill cosmetics!
...Ok that was hella cheesey :P

http://www.sugarpillshop.com/

Yesterday me and Claire's order from Sugarpill arrived (we often buy makeup together so we can get twice as much but pay half each :P) and we were so, so excited i just had to show you as soon as possible. I wore the shadows yesterday (no picture because i did my makeup in a huge rush and it wasn't a very good look, but i did a video so you can see the shadows on me when it's up on youtube :)) and they were fantastic, so so bright and easy to apply and they lasted at least 10 hours without creasing or fading. However as i've only used it the once i don't want to write a proper review yet, but wanted to show you the amazing packaging and colours and give you my first impressions.

We made our order around the 13th of feb, which was a pre-order time, so orders didn't start getting shipped for a while, but as our parcel arrived yesterday it took less than 2 weeks from ordering for it to arrive anyway :) And here is the parcel:

(flap of paper is to cover up our address :P)
Cute huh?
Inside everyting is wrapped in pink tissue paper and arranged beautifully:

Can you see how wonderfully everything fitted together? I don't know if it's a coincidence or on purpose, but all the products slotted together perfectly, so they couldn't move around during shipping. Also there was no waste of a box too big for the products (i'm talking to you here Mac!).

Our order came with some gorgeous free stickers, an invoice with personal note and Amy was amazingly generous and gave us a free full size shadow! :O Claire was really happy because Amy's note mentioned a necklace she bought from Claire once i her note. It's little things like this that make a big difference.

Here is our invoice with our lovely glittery free Sugarpill Stickers (Claire is thinking of putting one on a scratch on her laptop), some business cards and the thank you note.

We picked up all of the pressed eyeshadows, 3 of the loose shadows (+ our free 'sample', a free full size pot of loose shadow) and a pair of her eyelashes. Shiping is free anywhere in the world on orders over $75 and at the time we ordered there was a 15% off sale. Our order came to $105 in total (we paid half each). All the single shadows are $12, the eyelashes are $8 and the eyeshadow palettes are $34.
Just to say incase you're confused, Sugarpill is neither a home-made makeup company, nor repackaged private label cosmetics, it's instead a 'small lab production' meaning that Amy has given her instructions and overseas production on small runs, nstead of owning her own factory like a big makeup company or just putting her own labels on a pre-made product. for more info see Grey's fabulous reviews here http://legothique.com/2010/02/19/sugarpill-a-review/ and here: http://legothique.com/2010/02/23/sugarpill-follow-up/ she knows a lot more about this sort of thing than i do.

Now onto the packaging, which is absolutely stunning. Each product comes in an absolutely gorgeous box, and then the product themselves are in gorgeous custom jars and compacts. And this packaging is really high quality too, the cardboard palettes are really heavy duty, the plastic jars are thick and the logos are printed on, not just stickers.

Firstly the eyelashes

Hee hee!

Nice instructions.

The lashes themselves. These are the 'Dewdrop kisses' lashes and have beautiful little crystals on the hairs. Sugarpill stock another pair of lashes too, a more regular cat-eye pair.

Next the pressed eyeshadows. We bought 2 of the palettes which contain 4 shadows each but cost $34 instead of $48 (single shadows are $12 each) so you're effectively getting a free shadow and $4 off :) Sugarpill offer 9 pressed shadows and the two palettes we got, Sweetheart and Burning heart, had 8 of them!

And all the shadows together.
Palette on left is Sweetheart with Dollipop (pink), Afterparty (blue), Midori (green) and Tako (white). Palette on the right is Burning Heart with Flamepoint (orange), Buttercupcake (Yellow), Love + (red) and Poison Plum (purple).

We decided we had to have the last pressed eyeshadow, Bulletproof, which is a matte black. Here is the packaging this came in.

There is another palette, Cold heart which includes bulletproof, Tako, Poison Plum and Afterparty.

Now the Chromalust loose shadows. We bought Asylum, Tiara and Goldilux and we recieved Magpie for free! These jars are BIG for $12. Seriously you don't get a 5 gram jar of shadow, you get 5 grams of shadow!

Here is the Chromalust next to one of my Evil Shades glosses, which is in a 5g jar.

And finally, the gorgeous swatches!

Top row: Tako, Midori, Dollypop, Afterparty, Magpie, Asylum
Bottom row: Bulletproof, Buttercupcake, Flamepoint, Love+, Tiara, Goldilux.

So i'm going to go and have a big play with these for a while, really test out the formula and i'll be sure to tell you how i get on :)
What do you guys think of it?

Run out of citrus based puns!

So umm... Yeah the Lime Criminal has struck again.
A while back when i was still fuming at her terrible business tactics i started writing a big post detailing all the shadiness Xenia has been involved in throughout her business life, but i thought better of it. I'd rather my blog was a positive place and would rather spend my energy writing reviews and posts about companies and products i am actually interested in and decided only to post my proof that her products are repackaged. Well... let's just say be prepared for some mammoth posts of epic shadiness coming your way!

I have steered clear of posting on the examiner article (http://www.examiner.com/x-17390-Brooklyn-Beauty-Examiner~y2009m10d6-Is-it-a-Crime-to-Look-this-Good-Lime-Crime-Makeup) for a while now (though i couldn't resist it when someone suggested Shrinkle had paid me to bad mouth Lime Crime) because some of it just seemed ridiculous and i figured everything that needed to be said about Xenia's woeful business sense had already been said. But I have continued reading it because... well to me it's a bit like a train wreck, it can be horrible but i cannot look away!

If you aren't aware Shrinkle (or Amy) is a fashion designer who has just brought out her own (absolutely amazing looking) line of makeup (http://www.sugarpillshop.com/). Shrinkle used to be friends with Xenia when they were both making clothing for Xenia's Little Big Girl community. In fact it was Amy who kicked off Xenia's 'makeup artist' delusion by first introducing her to the big, bold world of Kryolan cosmetics. Xenia's first makeup tutorials used the Kryolan Amy had gifted to her extensively. Xenia also completely changed her fashion style from a more traditional lolita/kinderwhore thing to Shrinkle's brightly coloured, animal printed, 'trashy clothes for classy hos' style.

Eventually Amy got fed up of Xenia's shillbidding/selling dollar store sunglasses for a ludicrous markup etc and left (or was thrown out of, i forget) the Little Big Girl group, though has remained completely silent about what went on and any knowledge she may have about Xenia's backdoor shenanigans (slightly irritating cause i want all the goss, but also classy and good for her own business).

Xenia then started both anonymously badmouthing Shrinkle under a sockpuppet account (links to all of these will be provided in my bigger post coming ASAP) and saying things in interviews obviously aimed at her: 'some people still behave dress like they were teenagers, i'm classy enough to have grown out of it' (i'm paraphrasing. Also hilarious considering she now dresses even more childishly than Shrinkle ever did).

Recently when Shrinkle's Sugarpill makeup company launched Xenia congratulated her to her face. All the while anonymous people were badmouthing Sugarpill on the examiner article. People suggested it could have been Xenia but there was no proof...

Until Now.

A few days ago someone anonymous started claiming that Sugarpill was repackaged by posting photos of La Femme private label cosmetics they'd photoshopped Sugarpill on top of (the palettes and things are similar or the same but the colours are completely different and unavailable at La Femme). This person has been discovered to be Xenia.

Xenia's camera details from her flickr account:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/limecrime/4340481099/meta/in/set-1159043

the details of the photo posted by the anonymous badmouther:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/47566135@N06/4356500179/meta

As you can see the camera details are practically identical, but most telling is that the camera make and model is exactly the same and the dates on both cameras have been set as '2027' for some reason.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b143/Kateonastick/LimeCrimeCaughtOut.png

Oops, that was a bit silly wasn't it oh Unicorn Queen!

Also the anoymous posters flickr name is 'princessmoth'. Xenia once had a makeup tutorial called 'Moth princess' or something, as well as having discussed moths exclusively in her big sexist post a while back.

So that's absolute proof that Xenia is two-faced, having been nice to Shrinkle over twitter and so on, but slagging her off behind her back. So if you needed more proof that she lies, here it is.

Also if you were wondering, Sugarpills colours aren't available in the catalogue Xenia claims they are. And if you look at the photo details, it was taken on the 14th of february. Shrinkle didn't start sending parcels until the 15th so there's no way anyone could have had the actual product beforehand (unless Amy had given them to her, an idea which is laughable) so that just prooves it's a photoshopped photo.

You give unicorns a bad name!

Edit:
if anyone needed further proof, for instance thinking that the photo of her and Poppy King could have been taken by someone else and sent in to Xenia or something, these photos of Xenia's hideous DIY jumper are taken with the same camera:
www.flickr.com/photos/limecrime/4313488811/meta/

http://www.flickr.com/photos/limecrime/4314224666/meta/
You can see the date on these is december '2026' so it all adds up.

Edit:

Today Xenia posted this:
http://www.doedeereblogazine.com/articles/lime-crime-makeup-certified-cruelty-free-donates-to-bideawee
which states she is now donating some of Lime Crime's profits to an animal charity. This is wonderful of course (maybe her conscience finally got to her about all that money she stole that was supposed to go to a shelter) and her makeup line has been certified as being animal testing free, wonderful too! But there's something else very fishy going on:
'offering vegan eyeshadows and lipsticks that are free of animal products with an exception of beeswax'.
Umm... if a product has beeswax in it it is NOT vegan! That's like saying 'this soup is vegetarian with an exception of ox tail'. Every single one of her lipsticks contain Beeswax, so it's not as if it's just a typo meaning some of her lipsticks aren't vegan. She's actually claiming that they ARE vegan, even though they contain an animal product.
And as well as this her eyeshadows are not all vegan, some contain carmine which is made of a certain kind of beetle. She even states on her website that some colours are not vegan (http://www.limecrimemakeup.com/pink-poodle-magic-dust-p-194.html) but now has conviniently forgotten that to appear entirely cruelty free.

I am not a vegan, i'm a vegetarian but i do try and steer clear of animal products when i can. There's nothing wrong with not being an entirely vegan company, but to imply you are (while oxymoronically admitting you use beeswax O_o) when you aren't is just despicable.
