My Christmas Wishlist

I enjoy a very secular Christmas with a good dash of materialism thown in, so I thought I'd share my christmas beauty wishlist with you. I've only included makeup and toilettries and it's nearly all gift sets because otherwise it would be the longest blog post in history!

You may notice there isn't much indie stuff in this list, the reason for that is I didn't want to be listing a load of individual colours and things. I'm surprised at the lack of gift sets form indie companies, I really think that would be a great idea for Christmas!

Anyway onto the stuff!

The Nerd Lacquer mini colour library 

These nail polishes look gorgeous and right up my street, bright and glittery! They sell the entire library in larger bottles too, but I figure 5ml is enough when you get 28 polishes! :D

Glitzy Lips in Rainbowdar 

This stuff is crazy-cool, foils for your lips! Rainbowdar looks gorgeous, almost holographic with multichrome goodness, but what a stupid name :/

Illamasqua Midnight Decadence Lash Duo 

I rarely wear false eyelashes because I'm not too great at applying them but these ones are just so pretty and glamourous that I really want them! Also this comes with a free eyeliner.

Lush All I Want for Christmas Box Set 

I love Lush goodies, and their Christmas range is always fun and generally has a lot of yummy sweetie scented things.

Tweerzerman Candy Cane set

I don't need tweezers, especially not ones that are this pricey... But they're so darn cute!

Paul and Joe Fragrance Set in Toyland

Usually I'm very hesitant to buy perfumes without trying them,  but this sounds delicious. Apparently the smell contains ' floral notes of rose and jasmine alongside fruity apple, peach, and raspberry and warming vanilla' yummmm! Sounds right up my street. And as with all Paul and Joe beauty stuff it's beautifully presented.

Illamasqua Freak 

Again I actually haven't smelled this. I'm not certain I'll like it, but it sounds so interesting! And the main reason it's on the list is the bottle. It's one of the coolest, most beautiful bottles I've ever seen. The snail! *__*

GHD Scarlet Straighteners Set

I need a new pair of hair straighteners. I currently have an ancient pair of Nicky Clarke ones that are pretty useless. I don't really buy into the hype of GHDs and think they're really overpriced, but this set is so lovely! I love the Art Deco styling of the pouch and the bright red colour. 

Shimmer Twins Star Eyelashes 

These are just so cute! I have no idea what they'd look look like actually being worn, but I bet they're cool. 

Prada Candy Perfume

I tested out this perfume a while back and it was love at first sniff. It smells of candy and toffee and cake and all things delicious, but it also has some kind of undelying smell that somehow takes away from it smelling solely edible and cuts the seetness so it's not cloying. It smells warm and delicious.

Things I want but cant afford - Clarisonic

Ahhh the Clarisonic. Quite possibly the ultimate thing I want but can't afford. Because, let's face it, it is ludicrously expensive. You're paying around £150 for a giant electric toothbrush! And, even if it was the most amazing cleansing tool in the entire world and could make my skin entirely flawless, I do not have hundreds of pounds to spend on face brushes.

And yet... I WANT IT!

I'm pathetically sucked in by it's claims of cleansing '6x more deeply', making your skin smoother, softer and able to absorb products better, reducing pores and fine lines, etc etc. Well actually half of my brain is, the naive, gullible half. The other half says 'it's a brush, not a miracle worker!'.

The thing is, I am terrible with my cleansing regime. In so much as, I don't have one. I use cleanser  to take my makeup off and also when I have a bath (which is NOT every day. Bathing every day = craziness in my mind :P) and exfoliate 1-2 times a week. I moisturise as often as possible, but only when I remember to do it.

Somehow my little mind is convinced that if I spend a stupid amount of money on this then I will feel obligated to use it twice a day as I am supposed to and that skincare ritual plus the glorious benefits of the Clarisonic will leave me with skin that glows like a Twilight vampire and is so soft kittens would be jealous!

I love the way it looks, so sleek and and pretty (I would get the pink version as I am a pathetic stereotype of a girl) and yet somehow also a little like a futuristic instrument of torture. I like the idea of tickling my face with its polishing little bristles. I also like to think I would experience a sense of smarmy smugness from owning such a luxury product.

But... yeah, £150? Not gonna happen.

(ps. Sorry for the lack of posts and comments recently, I've been busy with some illustrations and a bit poorly. Nothing serious, I just feel tired all the damn time :( )

Things I want but can't afford number 2

Deborah Lippmann glitter polishes! 

A year or two ago if anyone asked me whether I would ever consider spending £16 on a nail polish I would have fallen about laughing. Oh how I wish I could go back to those days! It's all evil nail blogs fault  I never would have known about this brand if I didn't follow them! Now I'm longing for these so much I'm feebly trying to justify the cost. Some of them are just so cool and unique. I mean look at this, Funky Chunky:

It's just... SO COOL! Huge black sequin chunks all covered in a black creme like tar or something.

While the creme and shimmer polishes don't really thrill me to much I love basically all the glitter polishes. Bad Romance, Glitter in the Air, Across the Universe, Marquee Moon and most especially Happy Birthday! 

Ohh Happy Birthday. It's called a 'party in a bottle' which is just the perfect way to  describe it. The bright, multicoloured, different shaped and sized glitters remind me so much of being a small child at a birthday party. Or well the aftermath anyway! Floors strewn with confetti, streamers, party hats and so on. And those thoughts give me happy memories of jelly and icecream and musical chairs and party bags.

While there are some very, very similar polishes around (Milani Gems which I own, Wet N Wild Party of 5 Glitters, Ulta Pinyata-Yada-yada) none are complete exact dupe as none of those have the tiny square shaped glitters. 

Now I had decided to just give up on my high end dreams and collect more of the cheaper dupes came along but then I saw this:

This is a new collection for Nordstrum in the US that should be coming out any day now. It contains Happy Birthday and two very similar polishes but with sheer pink and black bases. SO SO AWESOME!

And my little evil brain is going 'hmmm well it's $42 for 3 polishes, that's only $14 a bottle. That's about £9 and they sell for £14 -£18 over here. I'D BASICALLY BE MAKING MONEY!'

Somebody stop me before I shop again! D:

Things I want but can't afford number 1

Hullo everyone. I'm feeling a lot better today, the sun has gone in and though it's still rather hot the stormy weather has taken away my heat exhaustion. But I'm in quite a bad mood because of the ridiculous tribunal service I'm going through. A couple of weeks ago I was told that I shouldn't expect my appeal to be heard until mid December. Today a letter arrived saying in fact it would be happening mid august. While it will be great to get it over and done with this means I have less than 2 months to prepare and gather evidence and stuff :/

Anyway this is that start of a new regular (or I hope to be regular) feature 'Things I want but can't afford'. These are basically things I am lusting after but do not have the money to spend on them. 

So the first thing I am longing for but can't bring myself to buy is: 

Violent Lips!

If you've not heard of these then they are basically temporary tattoos for your lips. How cool is that? It means you can have lips with tiny hearts

Or polka dots

Or even amazing nautical stripes!

I love bright and bold lips and sometimes like to do 'arty' things like heart shaped lips, or different shades on the top and bottom or even more complicate stuff but no matter how much lipcote I put on or how carefully I apply the lippie I always end up with a bit of colour blending or smudging or it just doesn't look great to begin with. I certainly would never do a look like that if I was going for a night on the town. So if these work they would be right up my street! An easy, quick way to get a neat patterned lip look. Most people would probably think these look too unusual or tacky or even downright freakish but I find them quite beautiful!

They cost $14.95 (or a few styles are only $9.99) for 3 applications and at the moment have free shipping and 20% off if you spend over $30. I see this price as neither hugely expensive nor cheap. While $15 may sound a large amount for something you can only wear 3 times I figure that these are mainly a novelty thing. I love bright, bold, stupid colour lips but even I wouldn't wear these just to go down the shops. They're meant to last 4-8 hours so they sound great for going dancing or to a party or something. And if you think like that $5 (i guess about £3) for a really fun look for a night out doesn't seem that bad.Well that is if they do indeed work!

Having said that I'm in no position to be spending $15 or even $10 on lip tattoos :( Maybe some day though!
