Can't... Stop...Shopping D:

I have a serious shopping problem. It makes me feel better when i'm down or poorly (i have a stomach bug today). It's not at all good for my bank balance, but when i do have money in my account i just go 'why not have a nice splurge?'.
So... i'm in the process of making another E.L.F. order. Last week i bought some things from Morgana Minerals, an eyeshadow pallette thing from Stars Makeup Heaven, a big TKB haul (though at least my girlfriend and i are going sharing it) and eyeshadow pressing solution from coastal scents. It's terrible!
Also on thursday i'm going to a Carnaby Street event, where you get 20% off a load of shops (http://www.carnaby.co.uk/grazia/) so i know i'm gonna be spending a hell of a lot there. Oh dear oh dear. Shame on me!

  1. I know what you mean! When you're feeling down buying a little something for yourself is such a nice pick-me-up. If only I can sell - and send - nail polishes! My one true weakness. All but one of the polishes I got from Sephora (Sephora by OPI) has been a disappointment :(

It's funny, cause we have shopped in same internet shops- Stars Makeup Heaven, E.l.F., TKB and I wanted to place an order on Morgana minerals site, but I got confused about they payment instructions to international customers and so I saved some money.:)

  5. Me too, and being a bit of a pigment noob it's taking all the self-control I can muster not to buy a load on my credit card before payday!

  6. Me too, and I'm meant to be saving up for law school next year. I've been stressed this week so I bought make-up, false eyelashes and things for the house. I also ate too much. Both are bad, but they make me feel sooo much better amidst university stress and so on.

I think it's not so bad as long as you make up for it somehow afterwards!

  7. Hm... I don't usually shop, I confess XD
but the past month and this one I've been shopping a lot more than I'm used to, but I think it's not something that'll last...

I have moved recently to be nearer to my college, so I have to save a lot of money, specially to buy food and stuff XD

Besides, I only enjoy buying online and most of stores are outside Brazil and my country charges 75% on imported products that are not actually a need x.x'

  8. Oh! Out of topic but... You said you did cognitive-behaviorist therapy once... did you like it?

I want to know 'cause I'm a psychology student and I really disagree with the theory and their working method (while I think it works very well in some cases, I don't think it takes care of the whole person or for a long time...)but my daddy is a patient and loves it....
So I've been wondering if people who do/did it like it and why.... o.o'

If you feel the question is too personal, plz, forgive me, you don't have to answer! ^^'

It's so true! It really does brighten up my day to buy myself a little something.
That's a real shame, OPI get fabulous reviews, is the formula worse with the sephora ones?

    Morgan:
It's nice to find so many kindred spirits! :D

    Angie:
Yes! And then when parcels arrive for me it seems like i'm getting a present instead of having bought somethng!

    Sil.:
    We both need help!
Clearly it shows we both have equally great taste :P
I don't remember having any problems with the morgana site, if you need any help i'll try and help :)

    Vixel:
I'm the same, i've got all excited about making my own makeup and now i want to buy everything!

    Simone:
Yeah, it's stupid how much happier i can feel after i've bought myself a little something, or have a tasty meal!
I figure it's ok as long as we don't bankrupt ourselves :P

    Cacau:
You're lucky you don't usually shop! I'm terrible and would probably spend money on pretty things rather than things like food.

And i did have CBT, and i didn't like it and it didnt help with my problems at all.
Basically my problem with it is that CBT is basically saying 'this problem is all in your head' but i was already well aware of that, my problem is that i just cant stop the problem even though i know logically it cant be true.
Also i found it very frightening and it progressed too fast. So i would be given 'homework' which would be something like going up to people in the street and asking the time. I was too frightened to do it, but also too frightened to tell my therapist i didn't do what she asked, so i would lie. So she thought i was getting better when i wasn't really.
I think it probably can work well with a lot of people, but for me it was just a really horrible experience.
If you want any more information or anything just ask, i'm happy to talk about it :)

  10. I'm not sure - the only other brands I have is China Glaze and Zoya. I have the Sephora brand nail polish, and they apply fine. The Sephora by OPI ones I got did not dry glossy for some reason. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I decided I'll give them to my sister or try to sell them online for cheap, if possible. Maybe it's my application =/

  11. Thanks for answering... that's mostly what I dislike on the CBT... specially the homework thing.... I mean... If my therapist asked me to do homework I'd go like "what? how many years old do you think I have?"
Besides, I think it does not take the whole person in consideration.
Still, I'm sad it was a bad experience for you.
I think this kind of therapy fits some kind of people (like my Dad)... but that's not my case too.
I'm going to be a Phenomenologist and work with daseinsanalysis, if everything goes smoothly... do you know about it?

(sry about going out of topic... this kind of subject makes me so excited x.x')
