Illamasqua Contest - Wild Thing

So here's my first entry for the Illamasqua contest. I was inspired by tribal face-painting (particularly traditional African paint) and my friend Liselotte Eriksson. Liselotte is an amazing artist who is quite famous for her faerie paintings and amazing photographs. Recently Lisis had an exhibition called Mad Dog which featured her and her friends as sort of feral, crazy wild people (or that's how i saw it anyway, i may be totally wrong) which i found very beautiful and inspired this look. You can see some of her photos here.

This faerie is not the sweet, ethereal kind that you might read about in books, she does not fly or sprinkle fairy dust or grant wishes. This is a wild, almost crazed and entirely uncivilised creature who others should be wary of. She plays by her own set of rules and will cheat, trick or attack to get what she wants. She's an umcomplicated, base creature who is fueled mainly by instincts and wants. She is not interested in making friends or helping people, unless there's something in it for her.

A million more photos (and how i did the look) under the cut :)

So i went hopping around looking like this (and half naked) in my garden to get a nice background and because i assumed the natural light would be the best to show off the makeup. I was wrong! So here are some photos in my bathroom (where all wild faeries live, right? :/) which show more the actual colour of my face.

Hmm the photosstill wash everything out a bit.

So here's a quick rundown of how i did this look:
First i used too-dark foundation (Collection 2000 which was a gift from a friend but i can't use usually. It's powerful stuff!) then brushed Mac Pinch Me blusher all over my face and shoulders for a rusty, ruddy colour. I added some Mac Frankly Scarlet blush on some areas like the lower part of my face and bridge of my nose. I used a greyish brown shadow from the Sleek Bohemion pallette all around my eyes and finished with a red lip liner on my waterline and on a dot in the inner corner. I used brown eyebrow gel to brush my eyebrows up and bushy. I added white face paint in places for warpaint and used lip liner and a blood red lipstick to make scratches. The 'cut lip' was done using berry coloured lip stain and a tiny bit of the blood lipstick. Finally i blacked out part of my teeth (yes yes it looks terrible up close but from far away looked alright) by drying them thoroughly on a tissue and then using Illamasqua's SOPHIE pencil. My hair was backcombed tomake it all bushy.
