Darling Girl Cosmetics Overview

I'm going to make several posts to review the different products I own from Darling Girl as I have lots of swatches to share!
But first up here's a quick overview.

These posts are a long, long time coming! Last Halloween I made my first Darling Girl order, which included a blogger review pack. Yeah I know, I suck. Sorry! D: Since then I've made several more orders and they have quickly become my favourite indie company.

Darling Girl sell tonnes of different products, from your basic loose eyeshadows and blushes, lip balms and glitters to primers, lip stains, cream blushes and solid skin balms. There isn't really a 'theme' to the company, other than just being girly and pretty (though some collections are, like the rock themed 'Darling Grrl' shadow line) which suits me just fine. The website is brilliant an very professional looking. The design is clean and simple and very easy to navigate and the photos are really clear and bright with true to life colours. One suggestion I would make though would be to provide some photos of the products in use so you could see what a colour looks like on the lips/eyes etc. But the swatches look great anyway so it's only a tiny niggle. All the products have clear ingredients listings.

Check out is really easy and I immediately got a confirmation email about my order. The price for shipping varies depending on how big your order is (at least it does internationally) the most I ever paid was $10 for a large order, so I was very pleased with that. My orders have generally gone out within a week though one took just over 2, that was at Christmas though, an I recieved an email to tell me it had been shipped. Then it takes about 1-2 weeks to get to me, which is average for a parcel coming from the US to the UK. The packaging of the products is simple and attractive and orders always come beautifully wrapped, for instance here is an order from around Valentines Day:

There is heart and lip shaped confetti in the valentines bags and the zebra packet contains my freebies! My orders always contain a business card and a couple of eyeshadow samples. Plus if you spend $10 or more you get a free Gift With Purchase eyeshadow shade. This is a large sample (a full 3ml volume jar) and is often a shade unavailable elewhere.

Anyway there's a little overview to what Darling Girl Cosmetics has to offer. Reviews of individual products and swatches will be coming up soon!

Shame on you Sinful Colors!

This and this is absolutely appalling!
I'm lucky enough to have never had any of my images or content stolen (well as far as I'm aware!), apart from one time where someone uploaded some photos of my nail polish collection to the Models Own facebook page without my permission, but that is absolutely nothing compared to what has happened to The Swatchaholic and Swatch and Learn!

Other bloggers and ebay sellers nicking photos off blogs for their own purposes is bad enough but this, using bloggers photos to actually advertise a product (that isn't even being worn in the photo!) is just beyond the pale!

You can't really get Sinful Colors in the UK but if you could then I would be boycotting them! There's also a petition here but really there should be no need of a petition, I'm pretty sure what theyv've done is illegal. Or am I naive?

A few faces and outfits

Hullo! Sorry I've been gone again, I've not been very well.
Anyway I have some proper posts coming up (Look forward to Darling Girl and Cult Nails reviews and swatches very soon) but for now have a few recent faces and a couple of outfits. I'm not going to list what I'm wearing, but if you want to know any specific items just ask :)

In these next 3 I'm wearing mostly my homemade makeup :)

Hmm there's nothing that exciting really is there? :/ I seem to be a bit lost with makeup/blogging at the moment (though I think that's more to do with being poorly and falling so behind than anything else) so would really appreciates any requests for looks, swatches, reviews or anything really. Tell me what you'd like to see!

And under the cut there's some funny faces, it's what I do best!

Generation Q - Where beauty has no age limits

Last week I went along to Illamasqua's latest blogger event for their A/W 2012 collection Generation Q. It was a big decision for me to go because my social anxiety is really debilitating at the moment but Claire told me ot go and I was fed up of missing out on exciting, fun things I want to do because I'm too afraid. So I had a bit of dutch courage and went.

(I'm not certain if I will be going to more invents though, while everything was brilliant, the organisers were incredibly welcoming and so on it was just a little bit too much for me to be around so many strangers. Anyway I won't go into it anymore as it was all to do with me and my silly brain and insecurities and nothing to do with the event.)

'Generation Q - is generation you!
It's what they tell you not to do; it's what you see your true self through.
It's what is old and what is new,
What you know and what you knew.
It's what you feel and what is true'

My big mug

Thanks to everyone who commented so kindly on my last post. I WILL reply to all your comments, it's just taking me a ridiculously long time as I'm finding it difficult like blogging in general.

Blogger is acting weird for me at the moment, it might be because apperently my browser is no longer supported by blogger and it wants me to use Google Chrome. But that's not going to happen because I like Firefox! (other browsers are available)

Anyway I have some actually interesting posts for you coming up starting tomorrow (I promise!) like an event, swatches, reviews etc. But for now here's my big mug.

Wearing:
Face: Illamasqua Skin base in 02 (a tiny bit mixed with moisturiser), Nyx cream blush in Orange
Eyes: Illamasqua cane medium pencil smudged all over the lid and on the waterline, black mascara.
Lips: Mac Pro cream colour base in Pink Shock, Illamasqua sheer lipgloss in Divine

Because my hair is naturally very curly my fringe is a bit of a nightmare. I need to invest in some good straighteners. Or not be lazy and blow dry it properly.

My clothes are all from a few years ago so sorry if you like them!
Bunny top: Topshop (it's a size 10 or something, stupidly oversized!)
Shorts: Miss Selfridge
Tights: Topshop (you can't see them but they're nudeysheer with tiny, round, gold studs)
Shoes: Office

In other news I saw Scott Pilgrim the other day and hated it. It seems like the comic might be better. My room is still not tidy but better than the last photos I posted. And Eddie Argos is now officially my friend because he said so and can't take it back! MWA HA HA HA!

Also I am a moron.
