Thank you everyone who commented on my last post, your comments were really beautiful and warmed my heart. It's so nice to know so many of you care so much, it's just really amazing. Thank you again.
Unfortunately, while the vets did all they could, Millie did not get any better and we had to do what was best for her and had her put to sleep.
She wasn't in any pain so it was obviously the right thing to do and she was purring right up to the very end.
Of course i'm very very upset. SHe was the sweetest, kindest cat i've ever met and the house seems empty without her. I haven't gotten used to her being gone yet and keep expecting to find her sleeping on a chair snuggled up with Omelette (her niece) or perched on the sofa to give me a kiss (she was the only cat i've ever met who kisses). She lived a really lovely long life, over 15 years. But i don't really remember my life without her so it's very weird.
To me animals just seem as much a part of my family as the humans, so i always really do grieve for my pets and i hope noone thinks this is silly.
I'm trying to keep busy so will probably be back posting like usual in a few days.
Thank you for all your lovely messages again <3

  1. I know just how attached you can get to a cat. I don't know what I'd do without mine. You did what was best for her, and thankfully it didn't hurt. Keep a picture of her close to you. Feel better.

  2. I've always had animals in my life and when one passes away it always feels like loosing a member of the family. Animals never answer back and they listen to everything you have to say, they are like best friends and they are always there for a hug. Sounds like Minnie had a long and happy life and that's the main thing and you know you done what you could for her. I'm sure everyone who reads is hoping you feel ok soon :)

  3. I'm so sorry to hear this but I think you did the right thing in letting her go.

I don't think grieving for a pet is silly at all. I've had dogs and cats all my life and they are, to me and I imagine many others, very much part of the family. I understand how painful it is to lose a pet and I know how difficult it is to adjust to life without them.

    Take care :)

  4. I'm so sorry to hear this. We had to put our dog to sleep in december, so i just went through the same thing.

It's always painful to loose a pet, as many others said they're alo part of the family.

I hope you feel better soon. Hugs :)

  6. Of course it's not silly. The animals that allow us to take care of them ask for so little, and the love they give back is irreplaceable and priceless. When my first pet died, after being in my life for 15 years and growing up with her, I was inconsolable. People say she was aloof and hard to love, but that just made me feel even more honored that she loved me and slept next to me every night. Or if I was having a bad day she'd sit next to me and put her head on my lap, to let me know she understood. She was my best friend, my furry sister from another species, my soulmate. I was 6 when we got her, so like you, it's hard to remember a time without her. It's not silly. Anyone who thinks it's silly is a sociopath.

*Hugs* I'm so sorry for your loss. Take care.

  7. I'm really sorry to hear this. I lost my dog, Billy, a few years ago and it was very painful. He was with us since I was 4 years old, so I get what you mean when you say you don't remember your life without her...
This is not silly. You have the right to suffer this loss. It's like losing a family member or a best friend...
    *hugs*

  9. It's not silly to think of your pet as a member of the family; they are around us just as much as the people we live with and just because we don't communicate verbally doesn't mean we don't communicate with them at all :)

I'm sorry you had to put her down, but you gave her a good life while she was here

  11. I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had cats almost all my life and they really become part of the family.
I know it feels painful to think about but you did the right thing when you put her to sleep. The kindest thing you could do for you cat was to take away her pain and not prolong her sufferings. I'm sure she had a wonderful life with you and that you had many precious moments together during those 15 years.
You have every right to be sad and mourn for your cat. *hug*

  13. I'm so sorry to hear about Millie. A quote that I came across in a blog helped me when my own cat, Sugar, passed away last year in October was how one should be thankful for the grief they feel, for it is a measure of how much they loved, and was loved in return... Your relationship with her obviously had a lot of love, and I'm sure she had the best years of her life with you, as you with her. <3 I'm here to talk if you need it too.

  17. I'm so sorry about Millie. You are not silly at all for feeling grief for an animal. After all, we are all animals and we all have feelings. She obviously meant a lot to you. Just try to remember her life more than her death.

  18. I'm sorry to hear about your Puss Cat :(
I don't think its silly to grieve for a pet at all, I have had animals all my life and when we have lost pets in the past it always feels like a tragedy. They really do become a part of the family. I much prefer cats to dogs despite having 2 haha. We recently had to have one of our dogs put to sleep (did have 3) and it was very hard as we had, had her for about 12 years :(
I hope you feel better soon *huuuuuuuugs* xxxx

  19. Oh, just seen this. I'm very sorry to hear about your cat. My parents' cat was put down a couple of months ago and it's amazing how big a hole a small creature can leave in a household. It will get easier though. Take care.
